Tax rates, equalization rates, STAR, the senior citizens exemption and assessment grievance basics, from New York State data.

Last reviewed: October 10, 2026

Property taxes in the Mohawk Valley are set by several overlapping governments: the county, the city or town, any village, and the school district. This guide collects the state's published tax rates and equalization rates for every municipality in Oneida and Herkimer counties, along with how the STAR credit, the senior citizens exemption and the grievance process work. Figures come from New York State datasets and the Department of Taxation and Finance; confirm local dates and income limits with your assessor.

Checking your assessment
