About This Event

Children are invited to join us for a toddler friendly storytime every Wednesday at 10:30am. Together we will read two stories, create a craft project and socialize each week. Children are not expected to sit still and we encourage them to interact with the stories in any way that works for them! We are learning together and meeting children where they are. This program strives to provide play-based support for children in developing social skills, pre-writing & pre-reading skills and more! Older and younger children are welcome, but storytime is designed to provide the greatest impact for children ages 1-4! Allergy concerns or accommodation requests can be communicated to our children's librarian Ms. Emily at erundle@midyork.org. We strive to create reasonable accommodations for all who are interested in attending storytime.

Unplug & Play Tabletop Games

Two nights a month and once on a Saturday, the library encourages patrons ages eight and up to turn off their TVs, smartphones, computers, and video games and join others at the library to play board games and card games. We call this Unplug & Play, and we hold it regularly on the FIRST THURSDAY, the SECOND SATURDAY, and the THIRD TUESDAY of each month. The library has a large collection of games to choose from, and participants are also encouraged to bring games of their own they might like to play or share. We also feature a collection of 100+ games for all ages that may be checked out and taken home or played in the library. Mahjong for Seasoned Players

Mahjong is a traditional Chinese game using illustrated tiles, with game play similarities to rummy. It was imported to the USA from China in the 1920s and has since become popular all over the world. At Mahjong for Beginners, you will learn to recognize the different tiles in a Mahjong set and practice the basics of play.
