Younger children are welcome, too, though toddlers need to have an adult with them. Story Time has been a beloved tradition at the Old Forge Library for many decades. It's a special part of early childhood for many in the community and continues to bring families together through a love of reading and play. To help with planning, registration is encouraged. (We will however, meet when there are morning half-days and also when there is a 1- or 2-hour delay.) Parents/Guardians/Adults are welcome to use the room/toys when we aren’t there (and no one else is using it) as long as they pick up when they leave. Our clientele has been mostly children ages three and younger, so we are focusing on socialization, a very easy craft activity (like playdough) with the last 15 minutes on snack, stories, songs, movement, and trying to stretch attention spans. We will be assisted by Joann Zilkowski, the DCS R4K (Ready for Kindergarten navigator) and Sarah Williams-Herringshaw, Connected Community Schools coordinator. It is free and open to the public, No registration needed, but we do ask you to stop by the circulation desk before going upstairs, to check in there first.
