Bring your whole family of fire-breathers to this fun event, brought to you by the CCE Library Connection, a project of Cornell Cooperative Extension.
Two nights a month and once on a Saturday, the library encourages patrons ages eight and up to turn off their TVs, smartphones, computers, and video games and join others at the library to play board games and card games. We call this Unplug & Play, and we hold it regularly on the FIRST THURSDAY, the SECOND SATURDAY, and the THIRD TUESDAY of each month. The library has a large collection of games to choose from, and participants are also encouraged to bring games of their own they might like to play or share. We also feature a collection of 100+ games for all ages that may be checked out and taken home or played in the library. More information is on the "GAMES" page on the library's website: https://sites.google.com/midyork.org/ro-games/home
Help save lives! Jervis Public Library is proudly partnering with the American Red Cross to hold a blood drive. The Red Cross has over 135 years of experience providing humanitarian aid including more than 75 years of supplying blood to those in need. Each pint of blood we collect can help save up to three lives and will touch the lives of so many more. What a great way to pay it forward and make an impact on people in our community and across the country. We are very excited about the drive and hope you are too. Mahjong is a traditional Chinese game using illustrated tiles, with game play similarities to rummy. It was imported to the USA from China in the 1920s and has since become popular all over the world. At Mahjong for Beginners, you will learn to recognize the different tiles in a Mahjong set and practice the basics of play. If you want to read the rules we'll be learning ahead of time, visit Tom Sloper's excellent "Simplified Mah-Jongg Rules for Beginners" FAQ at https://sloperama.com/mjfaq/mjfaq10.html
